DAVE'S SUMMER COWBOY DANCE PARTY

AUGUST 8, 2009

It’s that time of year again to celebrate the dog days of summer (I’d say, long past due with all the clouds and rain so far this year) with the annual summer BBQ, dance, and camping party!  So dust off your cowboy boots and hat, break out your camping gear, and work up a hearty Oregon appetite as the big day has been set:

So, stick ‘er on your calendar now as to not forget or double book.  As usual, bring a pot luck dish of your favorite cowboy grub to share and your own grog.

The round-up time is around 4pm, with the BBQ starting by 6pm.  You’re welcome to head out earlier if you get a hanker’n.  I’ll supply the burgers and dogs, with starters of side dishes and soda pop.  Barn dancing usually gets in high gear by 8pm, which is just about right for everyone to make a quick costume change and get your fancy duds on.

Bring your swim suit if you feel the spirit to jump in the Molalla River in the heat of the day (always fun), and light cloths for volleyball.  You can show up as early as Friday night and leave as late as Sunday afternoon if you plan on camping.

Friday night also happens to be the Ross Coleman PBR Bull Ride at the Molalla Rodeo.  It kicks in at 7pm.  I plan on going… always a fun way to get into the mood.

Parking is always tight, so carpooling is a good idea.  We can also use the next door neighbor’s to the west and across the road to the south for overflow.  Parking signs will be posted if I get motivate to get ‘em out there.  If you have to bring the dog, I have a kick-butt kennel area to keep ‘em in as they can’t be running around the guests.

And, as always, feel free to invite your like minded friends for a festive time in the country (well, forest, actually), ‘especially since my email list is about as stale as the bread I found on top of the fridge last week (at least, I think it was bread… do they make that in green?).
